THE ARTS SOCIETY PORTSEA ISLAND

Arts Society Portsea Island - An introduction

The Arts Society is a leading arts education charity with a network of 385 local Societies, which brings people together through a shared curiosity and love for the fine and decorative arts. Our events provide welcoming places to hear expert lecturers share their specialist knowledge.

Here in Portsmouth & Southsea, The Arts Society Portsea Island hosts 10 monthly lectures, from October to July, in state-of-the-art lecture facilities at Portsmouth University’s Eldon Building. From portraits to porcelain, furniture to fabrics, Stonehenge to Street Art, our lectures cover all aspects of the fine and decorative arts, and are delivered by experts in their field.

Annual Membership costs the equivalent of less than £1 per week, which includes entry to the lectures and the national Art Society’s quarterly magazine. It also provides access to other events and activities (for which additional charges are made). These include expert-led study days, allowing you to explore a particular topic in detail, and trips to arts venues and heritage centres.

If you enjoy the fine and decorative arts and would like to learn more, you can find out more about the Society and its activities, including how to come along to a taster lecture, on its website at www.pidfas.org.uk, or by contacting the Secretary, Lewis Kent, at lewiskent@btinternet.com or on 02392 383966.
